Bahnemann Family Stock Farm

Washington County

Milt and Mary Ann Bahnemann purchased their farm in 1965 and started small. Over the years they increased their herd to about 35 milk cows. Milt and the Bahnemans’ son, Bill, also raised market hogs. In 1995, the family retired from milking and switched to raising beef cattle.

Today, there are 40-plus brood cows on the farm. The family also raises hay and corn on about 90 acres.

Milt and Mary Ann raised a family of nine children: Cathy, Bob, Dick, Lisa, Bill, Vicki, Sue, Tom and James. All the children were, at one time, involved in the operation. Milt and Mary Ann have 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Currently, Bill and James live on the farm and are very involved in running it.

The Bahnemann family was involved in 4-H when the kids were young. Several grandchildren are now involved in 4-H and FFA.
