Bob Durovec’s parents, Steve and Stephanie, purchased the farm in St. Louis County after World War II. Steve built a 25-stall barn and replaced it in 1963 after it burned. Steve and Stephanie expanded their farming operation over the years and farmed the land until they retired in 1979.
Now the farm is operated by Bob and Patty Durovec. The couple purchased the farm in 1979 when they were both 19 and newly married. Over time, the Durovecs expanded and made improvements to their farm and built a swing 16 New Zealand style parlor and a sand-bedded free stall barn. Bob and Patty currently milk 170 cows and intensive-rotationally graze the cows in the summer. They’ve been wrapping high moisture baleage for 28 years.
The Durovecs have three children: Chad and his wife, Nikie; Amber and her husband, Eric; Brea and her husband, Jared. The Durovecs also have four grandchildren: Chase, Hanna, Naveed and Nadia.
Bob has been involved with the Northeast Minnesota Forage Council, Farm Service Agency Board and is a former AMPI board member.
