Larry is the third generation of the Dean family to operate a farm. His grandfather, Ed, started farming in the 1930s, followed by Larry’s father, Orville. In the 1950s Orville purchased the current farm and ran it until he retired in the mid-‘90s. That’s when Larry and Kathy moved to the farm they live on today.
The Deans run 1,000-plus acres, both owned and custom farmed, in Renville and Meeker counties, raising corn, soybeans and vegetable crops. Currently, Deanville Farms includes both Larry and Kathy along with the couple’s three children: Alanna, Rachel and Lily.
Larry serves as chairman of the board at South Central Grain and Energy where he has been a director for more than a decade. He is also serves on the ag advisory board at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart High School. Larry has devoted time in the past to other boards, including that of his church and local golf club.
When time permits Larry also drives a bus for BLHS School.
