Richard and Evonne Snow
Richard’s parents, Lloyd and Mildred, purchased the 270-acre, 30-cow farm in Looney Valley in 1966. Richard joined the operation in 1972 after graduating from Winona State University and serving three years in the army. The farm grew to 48 cows and 500 acres by 1987, when the USDA Dairy Herd Buyout Program ended the dairy.
Since 1987 the Snows’ farm has raised corn, soybeans and hay. The farm is home to 50 shorthorn cows.
Richard was a supervisor for Houston Township and is Commander of American Legion Post #423. He served on the board of directors of Farmers Co-op Elevator and is a current board member of Hokah Co-op Oil Association. While in high school Richard received the FFA State Farmer Degree.
Evonne has owned and operated Snow’s Beauty Salon in Houston since 1989 and helps out on the farm when time allows.
The Snows raised two daughters on the farm: Laura and Jennifer. Laura is married to Joe Craig and and Jennifer is married to Mitch Hahn. The Snows have eight grandchildren.
Richard and Evonne have been members of Looney Valley Lutheran Church for nearly 50 years.
