James and Marilyn Sundquist

Clearwater County

Jim and Marilyn were married in 1977 and purchased the family farm from Jim’s parents. They raised their daughter, Sheila, and son, Nick, on the dairy farm. The family milked cows for 17 years. Upon selling the dairy herd, the Sundquists started a cow/calf operation and raised all their own hay. The Sundquists also raised Morgan horses and sold them to customers throughout the country.

Jim worked for 18 years at the Minnesota Department of Transportation as a state highway worker. He retired in 2015. Marilyn earned her RN degree in 1999 and worked for 13 years at the Red Lake Indian Reservation. She now works at Essentia Health in Fosston as Director of Senior Services.

Jim is an Army veteran and he and Marilyn are auxiliary members of the Gonvick American Legion Post #304. Jim is president of the United Lutheran Church of Gonvick where Marilyn is secretary. Marilyn also serves on the Clearwater County Housing Authority.
