Wayne Zimmerman Family Farm
In 1964, Wayne and Joan Zimmerman purchased their farm east of Ulen. The farm started out as a diversified operation with a cow/calf herd and crops. For several years the farm raised certified and registered seed. The Zimmermans’ farm today is a crop operation growing corn, soybeans and wheat.
In 2007, as Wayne was preparing to retire, the Zimmermans brought their son, Randy, his wife, Deanna, and their sons, Cris and Cody, into the business to manage the farm. Randy introduced new and updated technology to the operation.
The Zimmermans are very involved in their community. Wayne was a director of the Ulen Cooperative board and the Clay County Soybean Growers. He was also a member of Minnesota Crop Improvement Association. Wayne was a charter member of the Ulen Lions Club. Joan was a 4-H leader and director on the Clay County Fair Board. Joan was also involved in the family’s church council and Sunday school.
Randy Zimmerman taught high school agriculture classes for 21 years and farm management for eight. He has served as council member and mayor of Ulen. He currently works for West Central Ag as a grain merchandiser. He and Deanna are very involved in the Ulen Lions Club and several community programs.
