Steve and Aaron Trio
Steve began farming in 1988 on 50 acres of land when a local Catholic Church wanted to rent to a young, local farmer. He purchased the current Trio farm site in 1994 from the parents of a former employer. This year, Steve and his son, Aaron, formed a partnership.
Today, the Trio family farms 775 acres of corn and soybeans across Blue Earth County. The Trios strive to be industry leaders through conservation efforts, land improvements, using the latest technology and creating innovative solutions.
Steve and his wife, Mary Jo, have four children. In addition to Aaron, the Trios have three daughters: Bridget, Jenna and Lindsey, who along with her husband, Brad Lanoue, has a daughter, Nora.
The Trios are members of the Minnesota Farm Bureau and St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. The family is involved in various Blue Earth County Soil and Water Conservation District projects and the Trio farm was the first farm in the county to become a Minnesota Water Quality Certified Farm.
Both Steve and Aaron were highly active members of FFA and Aaron is currently majoring in agriculture engineering at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
