Herman Family Farm

Washington County

The Herman family acquired their farm in 1906 and it has continued to operate in the family ever since. The Hermans milked cows until 1968 and have raised cattle, hogs, sheep and chickens over the years.  Today, the main operation of the farm is a beef cow/calf business.  Most of the land is in corn, soybeans and small grains.

Steve and Becky own the farm where they raised four sons, three of whom are involved in the farming operation.  Kelly and his wife, Bobbie Joe, Jay and his wife, Lisa, Chris and his wife, Jamie, and Neal and his wife, Bridget.  The Hermans have 10 grandchildren

The Herman family was involved in Washington County 4-H for many years.  Steve has served as sheep superintendent and on the 4-H auction committee.  Steve has also worked for the local FSA office as a field and grain loan inspector.   The Hermans attend St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Denmark Township where Steve served on the vestry for several years.  Steve and Becky are caretakers of Grove Cemetery.   Becky is the Denmark Township clerk/treasurer and Steve is the township fire warden.
