Viger Family Farm
The Viger farm has been in the family for four generations. Richard’s Swedish-born grandfather came to America in 1890, got married and purchased land in Tumuli Township. In 1960, Richard and JoAnne followed Richard’s parents and began farming the land. Now their son, Don, and his wife Lori, are running the operation. Don and Lori’s son, Ryan, is showing interest in farming.
The Vigers raise wheat, corn and soybeans in western Minnesota’s Otter Tail County.
Richard has served on the local Soil and Water Conservation Board for 25 years. JoAnne has been an active member of the Otter Tail County Farm Women’s group for 25 years. Both Richard and JoAnne have been involved over the years in 4-H, they serve on various local organization committees and are active members of their church. JoAnne also volunteers at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls and the local food shelf.
