Risacher Farms

Murray County

John and Joe Risacher began their farming partnership as Risacher Brothers in 1986.  They took over their father’s hobby farm–that included livestock and crops–after their father’s death.  The original farming operation consisted of share cropping, farrow-to-finish, managing a ewe flock and feeding Holstein steers.   The brothers soon expanded and diversified the operation.  Today the farm has two businesses:   Risacher Farms, LLP and Risacher Trucking, LLC.  The farm consists of row crops and custom farming.  The trucking business is a manure applicator business and a trucking firm for agriculture commodities.

Joe and his wife, Sheila, have four children:  Nick, Ryan, Michael and Emma.   John and his wife, Mary, have three children:  Liz, Jon and Taylor.  The farm also has three valued employees:  James Giesen, Kyle VanEssen and Logan Dale.

Both Risacher families continue to be involved in 4-H and FFA.  Sheila Risacher is the former Director of Career Services at Southwest Minnesota State University and Mary is a professor in the Education Department at SMSU.  John serves on the Leeds Township Board, St. Ann’s Parish Council and AgStar’s Leadership Council.
