Grimsgard Family Farm
Eric began farming in 1990 after graduating from high school. In 1996 he married Melissa and the two worked together on the farm and raised two children: Anna and Anders. The family raises corn, soybeans and seed beans on about 1,250 acres in Meeker County. Seven years ago the Grimsgard family began strip-tilling all their acres and have utilized no-till for soybean acres for the past three years. This past year Eric and Melissa planted rye as a cover crop and are looking forward to trying other cover crop mixes in their rotation.
Eric is owner and operator of all of the farm’s activities. Melissa assists by driving the combine in the fall, other assorted jobs around the farm and takes care of the books. Anna and Anders help wherever they are needed.
Eric served nine years on the Meeker County Farm Service Agency Committee, his church council, the United FCS nominating committee and was named 2013 Outstanding Conservationist for Meeker County. He’s a member of the National Corn Growers Association and the American Soybean Association.
Melissa serves on the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City School District Advisory Committee and their church council. The family enjoys many outdoor activities including snowmobiling, water skiing, boating and traveling. The whole family has been involved in 4-H.
