Uproot Farm began in 2011 as a small, sustainable, diversified vegetable farm owned and operated by Sarah Woutat. The business started with 20 shares of a CSA in addition to Sarah selling her produce at the Fulton Farmer’s Market in Minneapolis.
Today, Sarah raises seven acres of certified organic vegetables and grows ten acres of cover crops. She sells produce at the Kingfield and Fulton Farmer’s Markets, plus she sells vegetables to two food cooperatives and offers CSA shares to about 100 families from the Princeton and Cambridge area of eastern Minnesota down to South Minneapolis.
Sarah and Uproot Farm are active members of the Land Stewardship Project. She’s hosted field days on the farm since 2011. Sarah donates starter plants to both her local church and two non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities that serve at-risk youth.
