Stone’s Throw Urban farm

Hennepin County
2016

Stone’s Throw Urban Farm began as a collaboration among several urban farms in the winter of 2011.   Those now defunct farms include Concrete Beet Farmers, Uptown Farmers and Pig’s Eye Urban farm.    Stone’s Throw Urban Farm is a three acre certified organic vegetable operation based on 16 formerly vacant lots in the Twin Cities.

The partners and owners of the operation are Eric Larsen, Caroline Devany and Robin Major along with employee Annelise Brandel-Tanis.

Utilizing organic and biologically intensive growing methods that focus on building soil health and adapting agricultural systems and technology to scale, the farm is able to produce over 50,000 pounds of produce each growing season.  All the produce is sold at two farmer’s markets, wholesale and through a 200 member CSA.

Stone’s Throw Urban farm is deeply committed to working in solidarity with both the urban and agrarian community.  As a member of the Shared Ground Cooperative—a co-op for new, minority farmers—Stone’s Throw works together to leverage market access for small scale and primarily Latino-owned farms in the region.
