Kaeter Family Farm

Rod & Barb
Benton County

Rod and Barb Kaeter started farming in 1989.  The farm had a broiler barn that housed 16,000 birds.  Six years later the couple expanded and built a new, single-story broiler barn with GNP. In 2003 the Kaeters added a wean-to-finish hog barn with the capacity of 2,400 head.

The farm currently consists of 160 planted acres of corn and soybeans, the broiler barn and a hog barn. The Kaeters also raise Holstein feeder cattle.  Rod and Barb, along with their oldest son, Jeff, are Gold Country Seed dealers.   Rod handles some grain trucking and custom combining in the fall along with his youngest son, Nick.  Nick also owns and operates a greenhouse business and will eventually work into ownership of the family farm. The Kaeters have a daughter, Samantha, who teaches elementary school.  Jeff Kaeter and his wife, Jenna, have three children:  Mason, Natalie and Owen.

The Kaeters are members of Annunciation Church in Mayhew Lake.  Barb also works off the farm as office manager at Central Lakes Oral and Facial Surgery.
