Larson-Dilly Family Farm
The Larson and Dilly families operate a 65 cow organic dairy and raise corn, oats and hay on the farm near Ottertail in west-central Minnesota.
The cows are fed a high forage diet and organic sugar beets were added to the ration earlier this year. The farm site includes a small retail store selling organic meat and organic dairy products. The farm started at its current location in 1982.
Ken and Dori Larson have two children: Ellen and Todd. Ellen and her husband Luke Dilly work full-time on the farm. Todd and his wife Melissa fill-in wherever help is needed. All the grandchildren, Lane, Addison, Macoy, Trystan and Tanner love to help out where they can.
Dori has been a township supervisor and local 4-H leader—the whole family is involved in 4-H. Ken served on the D-H-I-A board and the local dairy diagnostic team. The Larson/Dilly farm hosted a University of Minnesota Extension pasture walk last year.
