Scapanski Dairy

Benton County

Partners in Scapanski Dairy near Sauk Rapids include Gary, Shirley, Tom and Patrick.  The farming operation can be traced back to 1979 when Gary and Shirley bought the farm they now live on near Mayhew Lake and Tom bought a farm by Gilman. The Scapanskis milk 180 cows and raise all their steers and heifers. They also grow about 400 acres of corn and 80 acres of soybeans.

The farming operation is truly a family affair.  Gary and Shirley’s adult children, Laurie, Daniel and Eric help out on the farm when they can. Patrick and his wife Erin have three children, Evan, Andrew and Alex who help with the calves.

Gary and Shirley are active members of Annunciation Parish in Mayhew Lake where Shirley works part time as the Faith Formation Coordinator and serves on the parish council and liturgy committee. They both have served on the board of directors of the American Dairy Association of Minnesota.

Patrick is a softball coach for the Mayhew Lake softball program.
