Twin Oaks Farms
Mike Peterson and his family is the third generation to farm Twin Oaks Farm located near Northfield, MN. Prior to Mike and Kay’s ownership, the farm was operated by Mike’s grandfather Casper Peterson and his parents Don and Margaret Peterson. Today the Petersons grow corn, beans, and alfalfa on their farm of 650 acres of owned and rented land. They also finish 1200 hogs a year. In addition to the agriculture aspect of their family, the Petersons have both a welding shop on the farm and a golf driving range that is open from April to October. Mike and Kay have two sons; Shane and Blake. Shane helps Mike with the day-to-day operations of the farm, and Blake helps where he can. Kay manages the driving range and does all of the bookkeeping.
In the community, Mike is an alumnus to Randolph FFA. He is also the Rice County Farmers Union President and a member of Rice County Corn and Soybean Growers Associations and Rice County Pork Producers. Shane is involved with the Randolph FFA, 4-H, and works in the Pork Booth during the Rice County Fair.
