The Bondeson Farm, located near Braham, MN was founded in 1872. The farm was established from Sweden immigrants, Dean’s great-grandparents, and has been in the family for 140 years. In 1946 the present farm was purchased by Dean’s parents. It was a dairy farm, which Dean continued to operate until the mid-1980’s when he converted to crop farm. Dean has expanded the acreage and buildings to accommodate the 1,000 acres he currently farms. Dean grows corn, soybeans, and hay using a variety of technology. He uses GPS to take the best advantage of optimal planting, fertilizing, and spraying.
Dean has been active on the Braham Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years, and in fact, he is presently Assistant Fire Chief. Dean is the fourth generation to be involved with the Braham Covenant Church. His great-grandparents were founders of the church in 1883. Dean is also a past member of the Braham Jaycee’s and a current member of the Grandy Lions. In previous years, he also served on the Braham Farmers Co-op Board and the Stanchfield Township Board of Supervisors. Dean’s wife Jennifer is a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at the Cambridge Medical Center.
