Randy and Barbara Abel
The Abel Family Farm in Buffalo, MN was homesteaded in 1855. The farm is a sixth generation farm of dairy and crop farming in Buffalo Township. The Abels focus on dairy farming. They have an excellent herd and raise 65 milking cows and 75 replacement heifers. They sell their bull calves for feeders. On the farm, Randy handles the operation and management of the farm. His wife Barbara works off the farm, but also helps with accounting and pay roll. Randy and Barbara have three sons, Neil, Nicholas, and Derek. Derek works full time with Randy. Neil and Nicholas live off the farm, but help out part time with milking and fieldwork.
Randy is involved in Wright county DHIA, Munson Lake Nutrition, Centrasota Lake Region LLC, and Lake Region Co-op. He is also a Cenex delegate to the annual meeting each year. The Abel family belongs to St. Francis Catholic Church. They really value the country side of living and farming together as a family.
