Byron and Helen Anderson

Washington County
2013

Byron and Helen purchased their family farm in 1965 and grew corn, soybeans, and hay.  They also bought a few sows and went into the hog business.  Later they bought some bred cows.  Today the farm is a cow/ calf operation with also some hogs.  The crops that are grown on the farm include corn and hay.  Byron and Helen have five grown children, all of which are married and have children of their own.  All family members still contribute to the farm, and the 13 grandchildren enjoy showing the livestock that are raised on the farm.

The Andersons are a four-generation 4-H family and have enjoyed leading the Town of May 4-H club for approximately 39 years!  Byron and Helen are members of cattlemen’s associations, Tri-County Pork Producers, MN Pork Producers, and the Washington County Agricultural Society.  They also have enjoyed being involved with the MN Foundation for Responsible Animal Care, the Washington County 4-H Federation, and the Forest Lake Senior Center.  In addition, Byron serves as the president of the Minnesota Federation of County Fairs, the Washington County Agriculture Society, and the Minnesota Foundation for Responsible Care.
