Roger and Mary Holtkamp
Holtkamp Farms in Kerkhoven, MN is a third generation farm. Roger’s dad bought his farm in 1933 and Roger bought the farm ¼ mile down the road in 1967. Roger and his father milked together until 1967. Now the operation is run through a partnership between Roger and two of his sons Karl and Michael. Over the years, the Holtkamps have expanded their dairy and have made many improvements. The largest improvement was in 2011 when they built a 60 x 120 ft. double 12 parallel parlor with a holding pen and a 16 x 90 ft breezeway connecting the free stall barn and tie stall barn. In addition to having 250 cows, the Holtkamps have 1,200 acres of owned and landed rent where they grow corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Roger and Mary Ann have 5 children (Cindi, Jeff, Karl, Tami, and Michael) and 10 grandchildren ranging from 22 months old to 20 years old. Karl and Sarah have three children Abby (6), Jake (5), and Emily (2).
In the community, Roger and Mary Ann, Michael, and Karl, and Sarah, and their children attend Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Roger was involved with ASC Township Committee, Swift County Pork Producers, and MN Farmer’s Union. Mary Ann has been involved by teaching Sunday school and being on the church council. In addition, Karl, Sarah, and their children are involved with 4-H. Karl is involved with the Swift County ADA and Swift County DHIA. Michael belongs to the Swift County DHIA.
