Klimek Family Farms in Glenwood, MN was started in 1963 after Romie and Arlene purchased it from Fred Blairs. Today the farm consists of 98 dairy cows, 50 dairy heifers, 140 head of dairy steers, and some beef cows. They also grow 1,130 acres of corn, beans, wheat, and alfalfa. Romie and Arlene have three children, Kevin, Gerald, and Barbara. After college, Kevin and Gerald stayed home to work on the farm. Barbara got married and moved to the cities. Kevin and his wife Connie have three children, Katie, Alicia, and Jacob. Gerald and his wife Denise also have three children, Jason, Ryan, and Jonathon. In addition to Kevin and Gerald working with Romie on the farm, Denise Jason, and Jacob also play a part, working with the cattle and the field work.
In the community, Romie has been a delegate of Cenex Coop. Romie and Arlene also belong to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where Arlene is involved in mission work and the homemakers club for many years. Kevin is very active in the Glenwood Rotary, being a two time past president and traveling to Haiti two times for Rotary Water Projects. All of Romie and Arlene’s children were in 4-H where they enjoyed showing cattle at the county fair and state fair. Kevin and Gerald are also FFA alumni.
