LeClaire’s Fresh Veggies
LeClaire’s Fresh Veggies started out with Rachel LeClaire selling vegetables at the local farmer’s market on Saturdays with her grandpa. As each year has gone by, the operation has gotten larger and larger. The LeClaire’s are busy with their business all day, every day. Their day starts at 5:30 a.m. when the entire family arrives out at the farm to weed and pick vegetables and ends at 9 p.m. when they return home from the farmer’s market. Throughout the day the LeClaires fill orders, weed, pick vegetables, and prepare for the farmer’s market. They also take and deliver vegetables and corn for canning. Rachel and Rick LeClaire are the main operators of the business. Children Malinda, MaKala, Parker, and Ethan help with all of the day-to-day operations. Grandpa Jeff also helps where he can.
The LeClaires have started farmer’s markets in Balaton, Russell, Garvin Corner, and Marshall. They currently do markets five nights a week and on Saturday morning. They supply three grocery stores and two convenience/ restaurant stores. They have participated in the farm to school program and have delivered to three school districts. They also deliver to the elderly or home bound people. The LeClaires strive to make the communities they serve aware of how important it is to eat healthy by offering recipes and information on how to cook fresh produce.
