Kienlen Family

Le Sueur County

The Kienlen family farm in Kasota Township was started when Joe’s grandparents, Louis and Mary Kienlen, bought the 120-acre farm in 1943.  Joe and Teresa were married in 1977 and bought the building site and began renting the farmland on shares from Joe’s parents, Chris and Marion Kienlen.  Today the Kienlens raise corn and soybeans and finish feeder pigs.  Joe and Teresa’s son Kevin returned to work on the farm after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.  Kevin and his wife Christina have a two-year old son, Cameron.  Joe and Teresa’s daughter Emily recently began working full time off the farm at Culligan in St. Peter.

Joe is chairperson of the Kasota Township Board and is involved in the St. Peter Ambassadors and Chamber of Commerce, Shoreland Recreational Cooperative, LeSueur County Pork Producers, MN Corn Growers Association, Sons of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Redmen Club. Teresa works part time at Southern Minnesota Orthodontics and helps on the farm when needed. She and Joe are both active in the Church of St. Peter.  Kevin is a religious education teacher at the Church of St. Peter and is a member of the MN Corn Growers Association.  His wife Christina works full time as a speech therapist in the Belle Plaine Schools.
