Paul and Deb Rentschler
The Rentschlers of Lakefield, MN are a fourth generation farming family. Paul began his farming career after college in 1983 when he rented some land and custom fed pigs. Two years after he started farming, he married Deb. Currently Paul and Deb have a wean to finish hog operation. The pigs go to a nursery in South Dakota and then the Rentschlers receive them as feeder pigs. The pigs are finished at two sites, their home place and their nephew Kayle Koep’s barn site. In addition to the pigs, Paul and Deb grow corn and soybeans on owned and rented land. Paul and Deb have three girls. Kate is a recent graduate of Gustavus Adolphus, Breanne is a junior at Gustavus Adolphus, and Adriane will be a freshman at Gustavus Adlophus in the fall.
The Rentschler family is very involved in 4-H and FFA. Kate, Breanne, and Adriane have all enjoyed showing pigs, sheep, and cattle. The girls have also been very active in many high school and college activities, which Deb and Paul have enjoyed attending as much as possible. In addition to their family events, Deb and Paul help with the MN Pork Chop Open, Swine Committee for MN State 4-H, and Jackson County Jackpot Hog Show. They also have been involved with church activities.
