Michael and Denise Hanson
The Hanson Farm is a fifth generation farm. Mike is the fifth generation to run the farm, with his children being the sixth generation. The farm was homesteaded in 1883. When Mike’s parents Bill and Audrey Hanson started farming, the farm was only 160 acres. Today it is 2,500 acres. The Hansons grow wheat, soybeans, and corn in Grant and Otter Tail County. Mike is the owner and operator of the farm. He is also a general partner of Hanson Family Farms LP. His wife Denise is involved with the daily business of the farm and is the bookkeeper. Mike’s mom, Audrey, is also a general partner of the farm and takes care of all business related to the partnership. Mike’s sister, Roberta, helps as she can, doing everything from operating the grain cart to running for parts.
Mike is the president of the Ashby Equity Co-op Board. He is also a volunteer EMT and firefighter for Ashby. Both Michael and Denise are active members of Peace Lutheran Church.
