The Miller Farm was purchased in 1957 by Francis Miller. In 1979, the Miller Farms partnership was established. Today the Millers are milking about 125 cows and farming about 650 acres of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. They also raise all of their own replacement heifers on the main farm and feed out steers on another site. On the farm, John and Dick are equal partners and are in charge of all of the day-to-day activities and management decisions. John’s wife, Alana, helps out with the book work. Jack and Lindsey help out with the chores when they are home from college.
The Miller family has always been involved in 4-H with Jack and Lindsey participating in many 4-H activities including showing cattle at the Freeborn County Fair for the last 12 years and Alana serving as a 4-H leader. Lindsey has also served as both the Freeborn County Milk Maid in 2005 and the Freeborn County Dairy Princess in 2011. In addition, Dick is currently the president of the Freeborn County American Dairy Association. The entire Miller family has enjoyed hosting the Albert Lea third grade farm tour for the past 6 years.
