Brian and Barb Kimm

Clay County

The Kimm farm was bought in 1959 by Brian’s grandfather.  Today the 530 acre dairy farm is a third generation farm.  The dairy herd consists mostly of Brown Swiss.  On the farm, Brian and Barb own and operate the farm.  Brian’s dad Frank passed away this past spring, but was an integral part of the farming, helping with the equipment repairs and doing a lot of the fieldwork.  Brian and barb have three sons.  Son Daniel works at home helping with the repairs and fieldwork.  Son Benjamin helps on the farm as needed and son Jason lives in Kansas City and is away from the farm.

In the community, the Kimms are involved in Clay County ADA and Ottertail County DHIA.  They also volunteer with 4-H as they host dairy judging practice at their place as well as help with the shooting sports project.  In addition, they provide young 4-Hers with the opportunity to participate in the dairy project by leasing cattle for show.
