Dave and Kristi Tveten
Dave and Kristi Tveten of Lewiston, MN are the third generation to farm the farm that has been in Dave’s family since 1858. Dave and Kristi started farming in 1977 when they purchased 34 milking cows. Today they milk 40 cows and raise their own replacement heifers. They also raise winter rye for their heifers and corn for silage. Dave and Kristi purchase haylage and dry corn. They have three grown children, two daughter-in-laws, and five granddaughters. Dave and Kristi work daily milking, feeding, and doing day-to-day chores. Their oldest son, Mike works for Ellingson Drainage and Tile Company and comes home to help with field work. Son Paul works for Accelerated Genetics and is Dave and Kristi’s A.I. technician. Daughter Jacki is a graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College and is currently working part-time off the farm and helping at home as well. Dave
Dave and Kristi’s involvement in the community centers around the county 4-H program as they host dairy judging practice, serve on the dairy committee, and work the milk shake booth at the county fair. They are also involved with their church where they serve on various boards and teach Vacation Bible School.
