Paul and Marijo Beckstrand
The Beckstrand family moved to Waldorf in 1994 and raised a couple of steers each year until their children started 4-H in 2005. Since then, they have raised a few swine, dairy steers, and beef calves. Today they are working to increase and better their herd as they raise five beef heifers and two beef steers. Children Amy (15), Jamie (15), Trevor (13), and Travis (10) are involved in the farm with money invested in livestock. The kids do the daily chores while Paul and Marijo act as the supporting role.
The Beckstrand family is involved in 4-H at the local and county level. Paul and Marijo are the beef superintendents at the Waseca County Fair, and Marijo is the club leader of the Waldorf Peppy Peppers. Marijo also coaches general livestock project bowl. Amy, Jamie, and Trevor are county 4-H ambassadors. Amy and Trevor are members of the MN Junior Shorthorn Assocation, and Amy, Jamie, and Trevor participate in the Minnesota Beef Expo. Amy has also started to get involved with the Minnesota Beef Council. In addition, Paul manages Janesville Tires, with the majority of his business being Ag tires. He has specialized in this for over 25 years.
