Bruce and Joann Conroy
The Conroy farm has been in the family since 1944 when Bruce’s grandfather purchased it from the Metropolitan Insurance Company. On the farm, Bruce’s grandparents raised four children while also owning the Conroy Road Construction business. One of the sons was killed in WWII and a tragic car accident took the life of the second son. Bruce’s father Don, the only surviving son of three sons, remained on the family farm. The farming traditions carried on as Don and his wife, Florence raised their family on the farm. In 1980, their son Bruce and wife Joann moved on the farm as the third generation of Conroy farmers. There, Bruce and Joann raised their children Bjorn, Robb, and Patrick and, Megan. Robb and Patrick are now the fourth generation to carry on the farming traditions. Currently the Conroys raise 2000 acres of corn and soybeans.
In the community, Bruce is a member of the Farmers Union and MN Soybeans Association. He has also served nine years on the Wheaton-Dumont Elevator Coop Board of Directors, Wheaton Country Club Board, and the St. Peters Church Council. Joann is a member of the Ave Maria Church Ladies Group and is involved with the annual Community Relay for Life Cancer event. For the past 25 years, Joann has taught Title I and is the Media Specialist at the Wheaton Area Schools.
