In 1926, Patrick’s grandparents, Clem and Antonia, moved to the U.S. from Germany and began farming while raising their five children. In 1951, son Ben and wife Marie purchased the farm through a land trade. Ben and Marie raised four children, Constance, Barbara, Michael and Patrick. In 1983, Patrick and his wife Jody began taking over the farm while starting their family of six children, Jacob (wife Breanne), Barrett, Taylor, Reid, Deandra, and Alex. Called Twin Eagle Dairy, the operation has grown to consist of 635 dairy cows and 750 young stock. Two neighbors custom raise a portion of the young stock, while facilities at the “home” farm are used for growing young stock. The cows are milked in a 24 stall parallel parlor and baby calves are raised in a new computerized feeder facility. The crop side has grown to 1000 acres.
In the community, Patrick serves as President of the Minnesota Milk Producers and is a board member of the Minnesota Agri-Growth Council. He also served on the Land O’ Lakes Corporate Board and the Center for Producer Owned Energy. Patrick has been involved with the Staples Men’s Chorus for over 30 years where he reaches out to over 200 young men a year with a vocal workshop. Jody is a teacher and is involved with the Staples Women’s Chorus, her church book club, Prayer Shawl group, and the contemporary music group at church. She also volunteers with Dollars for Scholars, Post Prom Party, and 4-H.
