Ferdinand Breitkreutz purchased the family farm in Redwood Falls in 1939. His son Gerhardt and his wife Martha farmed the land until 1965. At that point, Karl took over, and in 1970, he and his wife Deanna purchased the farm. Their three sons, Grant, Nathan, and Seth have helped determine what the farm has become today. In 1997, Grant and Dawn joined the farm. Today Breitkreutzes raise 165 head of cows and calves. They also grow corn, beans, wheat, alfalfa, and a variety of cattle feed crops. Grant, Dawn, Seth, and Kelly Breitkreutz are also owners of the custom baling operation, Circle B. Custom Company and do custom fencing. Karl, Deanna, Seth, Kelly, Nathan, and Amanda work off the farm, but help when they can. Grant and Dawn manage the farm and their girls Cindy and Karlie work on the farm and son Jeremy works off the farm.
Grant is active with Redwood Area Cattlemen’s, MN State Cattlemen’s Association, and MN Grazing Lands Conservation Association. In 2010, Grant and Dawn received the Area 5 MN Outstanding Conservationist Award. Dawn is clerk for Delhi Township and an adjutant for American Legion Post 209 in Belview. The family is active in their church organizations, councils, and youth activities. Kelly is a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwan Do, and assists with youth training.
