Tom and Marilyn Fast
Tom and Marilyn’s family farm was established on land purchased from the railroad in the 1800’s by Tom’s great-grandfather. The farm then passed from Tom’s grandfather, Isaac Fast, to Tom’s father, Ervin Fast, and then finally to Tom. Tom’s father still farms with Tom today. On the farm, the Fasts own and operate a crop and dairy operation seven miles north of Bingham Lake. Tom manages the cropping operation which consists of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. Tom’s brother, Chuck, manages the dairy operation. Tom’s father, Ervin, helps with the calves and runs errands for his sons. On the farm, Tom and Marilyn’s children Karina (19), Joshua (16), Andrew (14), Aaron (14), and Anika (9) help out wherever they can.
Tom serves on the Country Pride Services Board of Directors and the Cottonwood County Planning Commission. Marilyn is active in homeschooling their three youngest children. She also teaches piano lessons, teaches Sunday school, and is a 4-H leader where her family is involved. The boys and Karina are active in FFA. The kids also participate in sports and band at Mountain Lake Public School. Karina graduated high school last year and now attends Dordt College in Iowa.
