Tom and Lisa Walsh
Tom started working on his parents’ farm when he was a youth. Then when he returned from college in 1992, he took over the family farm, which his parents had been farming for 50 years. His farm started with feed cattle, a cow/ calf operation, and some crops. Eight years after starting his farming career, his brother, some partners from Morris, and himself built a 2,000 cow dairy. They have since built another dairy. Today Tom is the managing partner in the dairy operations. In addition, he raises corn and alfalfa and has a small beef cow herd. Lisa assists with daily tasks. Their children Jackson and Halle are responsible for helping with chores of the beef cows. Daughter Mia is still too young to help, but will one day assist her siblings in the feeding.
The Walsh Family is involved in 4-H. Tom is also a member of the Swift County Planning and Zoning Board and is the Treasurer for the Swift County Dairy Association. In addition, he teaches religious education classes.
