Wade & Vicki Athey
Wade and Vicki Athey of Graceville are in the process of taking over the family farm. The farm was run by Wade’s grandfather in the 1940s and Wade’s parents beginning in the 1960s. Today, the Athey’s grow 370 acres of wheat, corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. They also milk 45 cows and raise their own replacement heifers. Wade gets help on the farm from his wife Vicki and their children Justin and Kaylee. Wade’s parents Wayne and Charlotte also help. Everyone helps as needed doing chores, field work, bookwork, and running for parts or feed.
In the community, Wade is a County Commissioner. Together Wade and Vicki are involved with the County American Dairy Association, Farm Bureau, and local 4-H. Justin and Kaylee are involved in 4-H and various school activities.
