Ben and Connie Post Family & Bill and Merri Post Family
Located near Chandler is the Post Family Farm. In 1967, brothers Frank and Jim Post bought the farm from their father Jim Post Sr. They farmed together for 20 years until they bought another farm and built a new barn so each brother had a farm of their own. Frank and Arlene remained on the home farm where they raised four children on their farm; Ben, Bill, Brent, and Polly. Ben and Bill continued the farming tradition when Ben bought a neighbor’s farm and began Corner Post Farm. After Frank retired, son Bill took over and bought Middleroad Acres. Today the two brothers farm approximately 1200 acres including pasture. Bill and Ben share machinery, harvest crops together, and jointly raise young stock and bulls. Ben has a 60 cow dairy herd and Bill has a 120 cow dairy herd. They raise red and white as well as black and white Holsteins. Daryl Rylaardsam started working for Bill and Merri part time while he was in high school and college and has returned to the farm full time. Frank and Arlene still play a vital role on both farms helping with chores and feeding the troops. Ben and Connie have 3 children: Wyatt (17), Kayla (15), and Wade (2). Bill and Merri have two children: Sarah (17) and Jake (15).
Both families are involved with 4-H. Ben is on the Murray County DHIA board. Bill is on the Murray County ADA board, Murray County Livestock Committee, and a director for AMPI. Connie is the Chanarambie Township clerk. Merri is on the Edgerton Public High School Booster Club and a district secretary for AMPI. Bill and Merri are 4-H leaders, serve together on the State 4-H Program Development Committee for Dairy, and help with the Murray County Dairy Judging teams.
