Goodhue CountyRostad Farms

The Rostad family farm has been in Joel’s family for over 150 years.  The Rostad children and Joel’s nephew are the 6th generation who have worked on the farm.  Today the Rostads are in partnership with Joel’s parents, George and Alice Rostad.  They farm 2500 acres growing corn, soybeans, peas, and alfalfa.  They also have a 60 cow dairy.  In addition, they custom finish hogs with a capacity of 4,200 head.

In the community, Joel as been active with the Goodhue County Holstein Club, church, and helping with 4-H and FFA.  In addition, Joel and Bridget own a restaurant, Bridget’s Café, which Bridget operates.  Through the restaurant, Bridget sponsors many school and community activities.  She also sponsors a pie baking contest at the county fair.  Joel and Bridget have been married 21 years and have two children, Rachael (18) and Brad (17).  Rachael has recently graduated from Kenyon-Wanamingo High School and is headed off to the U of M St. Paul.  She is currently one of the Goodhue County Dairy Princess Attendants.  Brad will be a senior.  Both kids are involved with 4-H, FFA, and other school activities.
