Located west of LaCrescent and south of Nodine, Minnesota lies Hoch Orchard, owned and operated by Harry and Jackie Hoch. This multi-crop orchard has been in the Hoch family since the 1950’s and has grown from six acres to nearly 15 acres containing between 4,000 and 5,000 trees. Hoch Orchard has over 50 varieties of apples as well as wine grapes, berries, vegetables and a few plum, apricot, cherry, pear and peach trees. In 2007 the orchard had some of its fruit certified organic and the farm will be completely converted by 2010.
Harry and Jackie Hoch are involved in the LaCrescent Applefest, the local farmer’s markets, are members of the Minnesota Apple Growers Association and the Upper Midwest Organic Tree Fruit Association.
