Rohde Dairy Jeff’s grandparents bought the family farm in 1919 after serving in WWI. Jeff’s parents continued to operate the farm and when Jeff graduated from high school, he began to farm. Today, Rohde Dairy milks 55 head of registered Holsteins and raise approximately 50 head of young stock. Rohde’s run 230 acres of land which 160 is tillable. They also rent an additional 100 acres. They grow corn, alfalfa, and oats. Almost all the crop production is used to feed their livestock. In 2006, the Rohdes completed a major manure management/expansion project which included a 40 x 80 heifer barn and a liquid lagoon manure pit. Jeff has been farming since 1983 and handles all of the cropping decisions. Besides the farm, he has been a member of the Grey Eagle Fire Department for 23 years and is the president of the Todd County Livestock Advisory Committee. Korinna works full-time off the farm and helps Jeff with the chores, breeding decision, record maintenance, and calf raising. | ||||||||||||||
