St. Louis County
Hoffbauer Family Farm

The original Hoffbauer Farm was purchased in 1977 with the intention of creating a good home to raise a family.  By 1984, the Hoffbauer family was raising vegetables and marketing them through the Duluth Farmer’s Market.  A second adjacent farm was purchased in 1986 where the family planted Christmas trees.  Today, the Hoffbauer Farm has evolved into a family business which includes the original vegetable and tree operations, as well as maple syrup production, raspberries, strawberries, flowers, poultry, landscape trees, and Christmas wreathes.

Doug is a past chair and current member of the St. Louis County Extension Committee.  He has worked closely with Extension on applied research.  Lois is currently the chair person of the Duluth Farmer’s Market and is a past board member of the U of M Northeast Minnesota Sustainable Development Partnership. The Hoffbauers are also members of the Minnesota Fruit and Vegetable Association and National Christmas Tree Growers Association.
