Kevin and Kathleen Thies Kevin and Kathleen Thies of Arlington, MN began farming in the early 80’s. The couple raised feeder cattle and feeder pigs. In 1992, Kathleen and Kevin started Kathleen’s Gardens where they offered pick-your-own strawberries, raspberries, and Pumpkin Days in the fall. Currently, the Thies Family farms 400 acres of mostly corn, soybeans, and wheat. They also raise canning crops of peas and sweet corn. They have a few beef steers and pigs, plus their sons have chickens, ducks, and rabbits as a hobby. Today, the gardening business consists of 7 acres of pick-your-own strawberries. They also sell many vegetables, raspberries, and sweet corn at the local Farmers’ Market four days a week during the summer months. The Thies family is active in 4-H. They also belong to the MN Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association and Sibley County Corn and Soybean Growers Association. | ||||||||||||||
