Olmsted County
Gene and DeeDee Hart & Family

Gene’s parents, Mylan & Elaine started milking cows on the home farm in 1944.  Gene and DeeDee married in 1985 and have farmed together ever since.  The Hart family farms 300 acres plus rented acres with the assistance of Gene’s Dad, Mylan.  On the farm, they raise corn, soybeans, oats, and alfalfa.  Gene and DeeDee have two farms:  Gene and DeeDee live on one and Gene’s father on the other.

The Hart family is very active at the county fair.  They have leased dairy animals to other 4-H members for the past 8 years and usually have at least 15 animals at the fair.  Beyond working at the county fair, Gene is the Rock Dell Creamery Board President.  He also owns and operates a milk route and is on the Olmsted County ADA Boards.  DeeDee is active in the Olmsted County ADA Board and Olmstead County DHIA.   She is also a full time lab tech at the Mayo Clinic and is a past Olmsted County Dairy Princess and runner-up to Princess Kay in 1984.  Like her mother, Melissa is also a past Olmsted County Dairy Princess.
