John Penning farms with his brothers, Tom and Rick, on a diversified crop and livestock farm located in Wilmont, Minnesota. The Pennings focus mostly on corn, soybeans, feeder cattle and hogs. John’s sons, Brian and Russ, also do mechanic work and herdsman duties on the farm. Currently, the farm is a feed cattle, hog and crops operation. John began farming at age 20 after his return from Vietnam.
John has been a member of the Wilmont Elevator Board, the Five Star Coop Board, and currently serves on the Cooperative Energy Board. Carolyn is active in the Ladies Auxilary and is a retired religion education director of their parishes after 27 years of service. Family is very important to the Pennings and they loved raising their five children on their farm.
