The Van Eck farm has been in the family for over 70 years. The farm, owned by Don and Sandy, is a 60-cow closed dairy herd and crops operation. Every member of the family has a role on this farm ranging from calf chores to field work. A majority of the feed needed for this farm is self-raised and bagged for future use.
The entire Van Eck family has been involved in Murray County 4-H programs for many years where they participate in the Murray County Fair. Currently, Don and Sandy serve as co-leaders of the Lakers 4-H Club. Don keeps busy by serving on the Midwest Dairy Association Board in Murray County as well as the school board for Chandler Christian School. During the summer, the family likes to take in the races at the Murray County Speedway on Friday nights.
