Mille Lacs County
Jeff and Jan Hanenburg

The Hanenburg farm in Milaca originated in 1928 when Jeff’s grandfather bought the farm for breaking wild horses and milking cows.  Then, after 25 years of just Jeff’s father running the farm, Jeff and his dad formed a partnership, continuing with the dairy operation and raising dairy steers as well.  In 2001, Jeff sold the dairy cows and bought beef cows.  Currently, the Hanenburg’s have 40 Gelbvieh/ Red Angus cows.  They also farm about 700 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa.  Jeff’s father, Harlin still helps with the planting and harvesting.  Jeff’s wife and children help when they can.  Jeff and Jan have three children:  Bryan, Dana, and Sara.

Jeff is currently serving on the FSA county committee.  He is also on the Mille Lacs county 4-H auction committee and is a barn supervisor at the Mille Lacs County Fair.  As a family, the Hanenburg’s are active members of the Christian Reformed Church of Pease and Community Christian School of Pease.  They are also involved with 4-H.
