Dan and Karen own a 240 acre farm in Mora, Minnesota. Since 1975, the two have converted this farm into a dairy farm, then to a feeder pig operation, and now focus on beef production. During this time the family cleared land, developed waterway systems and designed a rotational grazing program for their cattle. Currently, the Schafers grow 75-80 beef stockers and own a custom haying business.
Prior to owning his farm, Dan served as an Associate County Agent and a manager on a large commercial dairy and crop farm. He is now active in the county 4-H beef program and was a founding member of the Snake River Valley Cattlemen’s Association. Karen is a retired Extension Educator and Director and was a charter member of the Mora Kiwanis.
