Located on a major highway outside of the Twin Cities, Peterson Produce has evolved from a roadside vegetable stand to selling bedding plants, maple syrup, and a wide variety of vegetables and pumpkins. Jean Peterson and Al Sterner currently run 20 acres of vegetables. They have employed nearly 112 kids during their time on the farm and after 25 years of working, they thoroughly enjoy attending weddings and baby showers of their previous employees.
Peterson Produce uses sustainable farming practices. Jean and Al are involved in the Minnesota Sustainable Farming Association and have worked with the University of Minnesota with projects on weed learning groups and the University of Wisconsin on a study of economics of sustainable and organic production systems.
