
|  |   | Grant County Both Tim and Marilyn Backman were active in crops judging in high school and college. This interest in crops evolved into their farm and business of Backman Seeds, Inc. that started when Tim’s parents purchased a seed conditioning plant in 1976. The Backman Farm plants soybeans and wheat for seed production and corn and sugar beets for market.
Tim is currently the president of the Minnesota Crop Improvement Association and Marilyn represents DEKALB seed and traits in the trade area and is member of the Minnesota Dealer Council for Monsanto. The Backmans have four sons who are active members of the Progressive 4-H Club where they exhibit crops at the county fair.
