| | | Freeborn County Paul and Karen purchased their farm in Glenville, Minnesota in 1977. Here they farm 800 tillable acres of corn, soybeans, alfalfa and oats. They utilize conservation tillage on all crop ground, leaving a large percentage of crop residues on the soil surface. Approximately 15 to 20 percent of their land is left in no-till acres of corn or soybeans. They also have 50 cow/calves and feed out an average of 75 cattle a year.
Outside the farm, Karen works full-time at the Albert Lea Medical Center and is the Myrtle 4-H Club leader, a member of the school board and prom committee. Paul has served on the London Township and Freeborn County Fair Boards, Freeborn Extension Committee, and as a Myrtle firefighter. Paul works part-time for the USDA Farm Agency and both Paul and Karen are first responders.
